2023-09-10 A trip around Holy Island (Arran)

The $100 Million super yacht Sea Eagle II was visiting the beautiful island of Arran. I had a paddle out to her in Lamlash Bay before circumnavigating Holy Island.

Lamlash Bay, Arran and Holy Island are stuningly beautiful. I will be going back. 🙂

My boat is better than yours!

Distance: 6.4 nm Time: 1 hour 31 minutes

The yacht Sea Eagle II, built by Royal Huisman in 2020, is a stunning masterpiece designed by Dykstra Naval Architects. With a length of 81 meters, she is Huisman’s largest yacht ever. The yacht’s massive size is nothing short of breathtaking and is a testament to the skilled craftsmanship of the team at Royal Huisman.

Although the famous Athena is longer at 90 meters, she has less volume. The Sea Eagle II is a schooner with three masts and is an engineering marvel. The yacht’s performance is impressive, thanks to her Caterpillar engines, which allow her to reach a maximum speed of 21 knots. Her cruising speed is 14 knots, and she has a range of more than 3000 nautical miles.

The interior of the Sea Eagle II is nothing short of luxurious. She has been designed to accommodate 12 guests and a crew of 13. Every detail of the yacht’s interior has been thoughtfully curated to provide guests with the ultimate luxury experience. The yacht’s interior is spacious and open, with an abundance of natural light that flows throughout the vessel, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The yacht’s owner is Dr. Samuel Yin. Samuel Yin is a Taiwanese billionaire and philanthropist.

Her reported value is $100 million and her annual running costs are around $10 million!

The "Carrot" built by Tiderace as sea kayak model "Pace 17 Tour", has only room for one occupant (me), it does not have engines (except for me) and doesn't cost $10 million a year to run (thankfully). In fact I can think of so many areas where it beats the Sea Eagle II, hands down, it is so obviously the better boat!! 😉
