2016-10-20 Rhoscolyn Solo

Rhoscolyn with view to the Llyn

The start of my four day weekend saw me doing a chilled out solo paddle from Rhoscolyn down to the Airfield for a bit of surfing, then back up to the Beacon.

The weather was excellent with light winds and a clear blue sky. Near to the Cymyran straits there were some fairly reasonable dumpy waves to mess about in, followed by a complete lull for a few minutes, before the swell arrived again.

Being near to the airfield I was constantly being buzzed by the rescue helicopters where I exchanged some friendly waves with those onboard.

When I had had enough of this I made a straight line crossing to the beacon at Rhoscolyn. I messed about for a bit in the currents around the Beacon, did a bit of rock hopping and was generally ignored by the seals.

What and excellent days paddle. No rush, no pressure to move on, just floating about, doing exactly as I pleased. Once back in the bay at Rhoscolyn I did some rolling practice in Rhoscolyn and a very quick recently roll. This long weekend after all is about prep'ing for my four star assessment.

What a great days paddle.
