2025-10-11 Whitby Staithes and return – Solo in the Taran

Solo kayaking in my Taran from Whitby to Staithes - and back. Although due to a file corruption error on the GoPro Max, I only have footage of the Whitby to Staithes section and a little clip on the return leg. Conditions were not easy, due to large sets of swell coming in every 10-15 minutes or so. This meant I had to keep an eye out on the swell coming in, so as not get to trapped on the inside of the breakers and subsequently bongo'd onto the rocks! This also meant I couldn't get too close to the cliffs.

A nice solo paddle. 18.7 nm in 5 hours.

Should be my last paddle on the sea in England for a while now, as next month I'll have moved house to Scotland 🙂
