16 Hour First Aid training Evening paddle across to Bute

End of day 1's 16 hour Outdoor First aid training. A quick blast to Bute was in order from Toward Seasports Club.  Toward Seasports Club graciously allowed me to park my camper van on their car park for a couple of nights, whilst attending the course near Dunoon. It is a lovely spot.

Annoyingly, as the crow flies, the First Aid Training is only about 7 miles from my house. But to drive there requires a trip of over 50 miles up the lochs and through the mountains. With the weather being set fair, the scenery was pretty spectacular.

As for the paddle to Bute; I had about an hour and a half left before sunset, so there was no messing about. Setting off, I soon realised on my current course I would very likely collide with the Calmac ferry, Bute, fast approaching from the mainland. I made a big change of direction, so the captain could see my intentions to pass behind the ferry. Once the ship had passed, I was able to recommence the crossing to Rothesay.

I didn't linger in Rothesay, I just admired the seashore Victorian houses and took in super views, before heading back to Toward.

After a day of PowerPoint and class room work, it was great to get out.
