My Sea Kayak (B)log
Welcome to my Sea Kayak (B)log: saturnbull.co.uk. I log all my Sea Kayak trips on saturnbull rather than use a paper log. This is also makes a good repository for some of my photographs, taken whilst out and about on the water (I've been known to take a few!). I hope you find it interesting and informative. If not then tough!
2018-07-08 Bull Bay Middle Mouse with Owain
Owain told me he had not paddled on the North coast of Anglesey, so I said I would see what I could do. Looking at the tides I could see that if we went from Bull Bay with the tide towards Middle Mouse, the tide would turn at 12:24 and bring us back again. This...Continue reading→
2018-07-07 PM and Stacks with Owain
This Saturday saw me paddling with Owain, a friend I've known for some time from paddling the white water course at Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham. Owain was in Anglesey with Nottingham Kayak Club, although most of the NKC group had signed up to paddle with Roger Chandler of Coastal Spirit for the day. Owain and...Continue reading→
2018-06-12 Plymouth Sound
This was a short paddle around the Plymouth Breakwater and Plymouth Sound whilst on holiday. The breakwater wasn't as interesting as I had imagined, but was worth doing all the same. Interestingly, I was stalked by a motor launch (MOD?) for quite a while as I think they thought I had intentions on landing on...Continue reading→
2018-05-13 Church in the Sea
On Sunday we paddled from Cable Bay down towards Llanddwyn Island. We didn't get there as we stopped off at the Church in the Sea (Cribinau), followed by Port y Cwch beach for lunch. We perhaps stayed too long on the beach. After all, it was a glorious day. We did a big beach clean...Continue reading→
2018-05-12 Surfing at Rhosniegr
Saturday saw me going to meet the gang at Rhosneigr 9:00am sharp for some super surfing. Since my last trip out in my surf boat I had found it had foot pegs, buried behind a load of foam. I had also sorted out the backrest and so it was all good to go. The waves...Continue reading→
2018-04-08 Rhosneigr Mega-Surf-tastic!
On the Sunday, I spent the morning trying out my newly acquired Mega Bullitt'S' out on some fairly average surf at Rhosneigr. The sets were still coming in, but now the period between the sets seemed to be about every five or so minutes. The waves were much smaller than the day before. Still it...Continue reading→
2018-04-07 Spicy Penrhyn Mawr
Looking out to sea from my van parked at Porth Dafarch in the morning the sea state didn't look too bad, but every now and again I would notice some fairly hefty waves coming into the bay. I'd then look out a few minutes later and all would appear calm again. Hmmm.. interesting. I had travelled...Continue reading→
2018-02-28 to 2018-03-03 Assessment Week? Camaes Bay session with James Stevenson and Lisa Greene
During a rash moment over Christmas I booked onto an Advanced Sea Kayak assessment. I thought, "March, It'll be warming up by then". Wrong! It was only the week of the "Beast from the East". Even so, I travelled up to Anglesey after work on the Tuesday night, arriving at Anglesey Outdoors close to midnight,...Continue reading→
