Tuesday night was club night with Helensburgh Canoe Club. According to the earlier email, we would be meeting at the Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club (RNCYC) at 19:00. I decided to paddle down the Gareloch from my house and meet the club at the RNCYC. The tide was on its way out, which accounted for the good speed I made on my way down the loch.
At the meeting point, I helped carry the boats down to the water’s edge before we split into two groups: one doing skills and the other going for a little trip. I was in the latter group.
We paddled past Rhu Marina and then across to Rosneath Caravan Park before heading towards the jetty at the Rosneath Yacht Storage Centre. We had a look at a large drilling rig before moving on towards Clynder.
By now, it was beginning to get dark, so I said my goodbyes and set off for home, paddling back up the west side of the Gareloch before cutting across the loch to the slipway near my house.
