At Tuesday's DCKC Loch Lomond session I told Iain, I probably wouldn't make it on the Maidens trip planned for Thursday. I have been having a few car issues of late, with my car mysteriously going into limp mode every now and again. Wednesday morning, out of frustration with the garage "who will not be named", I lifted the hood and took a look at the issue myself. I think I may have potentially fixed the problem - there was oil on one of the sensor plug contacts causing a bad connection [roll-eyes] to the ECU.

Following a quick road test, I let Iain know I could now come on the trip. Besides the 80 mile drive will give the car a good run.
We all met up at Maidens harbour at 10:30, and got ourselves ready. With LW being at 15:00'ish, there was no rush, as arriving back at Maidens harbour at low water, would mean a long trudge with the boats through the mud in the empty harbour. Not wanting to boil in the bag, I had decided not to wear my drysuit, opting for my dry trousers and shorty can, topped off with plenty of suncream. Out on the water, we had a leisurely paddle in to the slight breeze, swell and the ebbing tide. The sea was a lot lumpier than I'd expected, but it was really nice to be in some swell for a change. The views were super - Ailsa Craig in on direction, Arran in another, with Culzean Castle perched up on the cliff on our right. All too soon we arrived at Dunure Harbour for some lunch.
On our return the swell had eased off and the anticipated push back to Maidens was no longer there. I had a couple of eskimo rolls to cool off, banging my head on my second roll when I slightly misjudged the depth of the water. Ouch! When we arrived back at Maidens harbour at around 17:30, there was water all the way up to the slipway, so no muddy feet!
Thanks to Iain for organising.
Fab!
