I contacted my paddle buddy earlier this week asking if he fancied a paddle on Thursday. I expected him to yes and  lets meet up and have a play at Newark Weir. But instead he came back with why don't we do something on the North East coast. Well that sounded like a good plan to me. So Thursday saw me picking up my paddle buddy, with the vague intention of maybe going to Filey. As I was driving, my paddle buddy studied the tide tables and the excellent Northern England and Isle of Man Guide book by Jim Krawiecki. Unfortunately for us, the tides were not ideal, so we made the snap decision to head for Scarborough where we could paddle around the North and South bays and have a mess about in the surf and swell.

My GPS track for the day. Not as far as we would normally do in a day at 7.5 miles, but lots of good messing about in the surf. You can see where the surfing was very clearly.

All in all a good days paddling and getting trashed in the surf. The sun even started breaking through. Is it really mid November?

Best days paddling ever.
