Mrs T was doing a SUP session with Ocean Drifters at Maidens, so I took along my Taran for a paddle. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great, and there was a strong SW wind with a following swell.
Leaving the shelter of Maidens Harbour, all seemed quite settled, but upon rounding the outer wall, the waves rose quite alarmingly. I was ahead of the Ocean Drifters SUP paddlers, so the leader could see me bouncing up and down over the waves. Thankfully, they changed their plans and kept themselves in the shelter of Maidens Bay.
I had a few downwind runs after slogging it out into the wind and swell, and I also did a lap of Kewn Rocks. But there wasn't much point in going far – heading into the wind and swell wasn't fun, and of course, if I headed downwind, I'd only have to head back into the wind and swell.
Oh well, it was an hour on the sea, and it meant I was all ready to help when Mrs T returned from her SUP paddle.
Fab!
