The first evening paddle of 2026 with Helensburgh Canoe Club from the Royal Northern Clyde Yacht Club. Earlier in the day it was rather windy, with Gare Loch showing many white horses, but by the time we met at 7pm things had calmed down a bit. Consequently, we set off from the RNCYC and headed across to Clynder, to make the most of the sheltered side of the loch. Conditions were so much better on the west side of Gare Loch. We paddled up to Glengair, before paddling across the loch to Kirk Brae in Shandon. It was very wet at times! As I have said before, I love paddling in heavy rain, when the rain drops are plopping all around you. By the time we returned back to the RNCYC, the wind had dropped significantly and it had even stopped raining.
The paddlers were Steve W, Steve, Gav, Kate and moi
