Kilcreggan Evening Paddle

Peer paddle with Pete from Kilcreggan via the peer group paddlers message group. I met Pete at Kilcreggan, who was sat all ready to go, on a bench over looking the sea. It was fairly near low tide so it was a bit of a longer carry down to the seashore. At Kilcreggan the wind and swell wasn't too bad, but as we headed around the peninsular, into Loch Long, the wind and swell increased dramatically. It was tough going into the wind and swell, but the views were well worth the effort. I was really enjoying the conditions in my NDK Romany Surf, but Pete wasn't quite so confident, in his rather tippy and very light carbon Epic 16. Not long after Knockderry Hotel, we decided enough was enough and turned around and headed back to Kilcreggan. At first we were with the wind and tide, but as we neared Cove Sailing Club, the wind and swell seemed to change direction slightly, now being slightly onshore. Not the best conditions for a tippy Epic 16, but Pete did really well to stay upright; no rescues were required. Rounding the corner to Kilcreggan, we were once again sheltered by the peninsular and conditions improved, much to Pete's relief. We watched a French cruise ship depart from Greenock (Le "something" - I did look it up on MarineTraffic at the time, but now I cant remember).

Back at the beach I couldn't believe it was already 7pm. How time flies... Way way way too much fun and enjoyment
